The density of public transport in Vienna, 75% higher than the average for the cities of Western Europe, and every year increases by about another 3%.
Continued efforts in this direction in conjunction with a good integration of the public transport system in the plans and projects of urban development make a constant steady growth in the share of public transport in urban passenger transport: 29% in the mid-1990s, 35% today and 40% of calculations, in 2020.
Now a citizen of Vienna has approximately 500 public transport trips per year. By this indicator Vienna, together with Zurich and Munich, is the leader and the example for other cities in Europe and the world.
