Due to the rapid population growth and quickly built-up vast territories, to 2020 is expected to quadruple the demand for mobility of up to 22 million trips daily.
In response to the need for “Safe and affordable transport for all” integrated transport has been formed KTA management, whose mission – to increase the share of public transport in urban passenger traffic from the current 6% to 30% levels by 2020.
An ambitious development plan for the public transportation includes the construction of four subway lines (318 km), seven tram lines (270km), the opening of 90 new bus routes (2.500 km) and five new water routes (210 km) in the total amount of investment US $ 10 bln.
